ECI’s Grants Program Second Round Projects

The USAID Energy Capacity Initiative’s Energy Sector Development Grant program is designed to promote the building of a creative partnership between government and civil society organizations (Universities, NGO’s) on priority energy issues.  A key goal of this program is to strengthen bilateral relations between these two segments in connection to priority energy topic/assignments, in areas where needs have been identified by assessments. Partnerships may be of mutual benefit by bringing added value and strengthening quality.
Nine projects have been selected for grants awards this year. ECI received 54 applications in total which were evaluated against criteria listed in the “Request for Applications”. The award for these projects totals 500 000 US Dollars. The projects will be executed over a period of 4 -11 months.
These projects will collect and present both scientific and commercial data to encourage the use of alternative energy and energy efficient technologies and test innovative alternatives to fossil fuels such as pilot wind turbine and geothermal heating projects.

Following projects have been awarded with grants within ECI’s second round of grants program:

  1. Grantee: Co-evolutionary Resolutions in Energy
Project Name: Study of operating safety and security of High Dams in Georgia
    Project Budget: 91, 000.00
